Kerman city is the provincial capital of southern Iran. The city is surrounded by mountains on the north and east, it has a cool climate and frequent sandstorms in the autumn and spring. Kerman is the largest carpet exporting center of Iran.
There are many large bazaars, some old mosques and many more. Kerman was also pillaged by “Agha Mohammad Khan Qajar”, when Lotf Ali Khan of the Zand dynasty took refugee there. It was then rebuilt under Fath-Ali-Shah, the founder of the Qajar dynasty (ruled 1797-1834).
